Zimmerman Youth Baseball Grows with Local Communities
February 26, 2008
Parents and Players,
Zimmerman Youth Baseball (ZYB) welcomes you to the 2008 Baseball season.
We have officially made the transition to a MYAS Gopher State Baseball League affiliated
organization. This move was made to enhance the opportunities and experience for our children.
With this change we join all of the member communities of the Mississippi 8 Athletic Conference
in Travel Youth Baseball. We played most of these communities in previous years so there will be
minimal changes to competition and rules. Affiliation with Gopher State Baseball will allow our
kids to continue to play local teams while providing added exposure to other communities and
competitive opportunities that come with being associated with a first class state-wide
organization.
As we did last year the 2008 Minors and Association Leagues will consist of an all Zimmerman
league in which Zimmerman teams play all Zimmerman teams. We have maintained our
partnership with Area 728 Baseball of Elk River and Zimmerman teams will still participate in mid
season and end of the year tournaments with Area 728 baseball as we had in previous years.
Zimmerman will be hosting at least one of those tournaments in 2008, which will keep the amount
of travel time for the parents in these leagues to a minimum.
Upcoming dates to remember are the Baseball clinics March 9th and batting cage night March
10th and Travel Team try outs March 18th and 20th. All events are at Zimmerman High School and
can be noted on our web site, @ “zayaa.org”, - Baseball.
The 2008 Registration deadline is March 10th but I encourage you to register your child soon in
order to insure the best possible team formation and opportunities. This will assist us as we work
to register our Zimmerman teams with Gopher State Baseball. We have a lot to offer our kids this
year so please join in and get involved with the fun!
Regards,
Rob Bonneau
President
